We believe that every child should have the opportunity to explore Acadia. For a list of experiences in the park that every child would benefit from enjoying, read the Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights. To get an idea of some of the activities in the park, visit Things to Do - For Kids.

To learn more about the park, you can explore the "For Kids" section of the "old" website. Discover what rangers do, animal habitats, and more. Until we move the "For Kids" information to this site, you can access it here.

You can discover the unique qualities of Acadia National Park and the Maine coast through a selection of books for kids. These books, and many more, are available in Eastern National bookstores throughout the park.

We've also put together a list of links with fun activities, games, and more for kids.

Did You Know?
Acadia National Park's carriage road system, built by John D. Rockefeller Jr., has been called “the finest example of broken stone roads designed for horse-drawn vehicles still extant in America.” Today, you can hike or bike 45 miles of these scenic carriage roads in the park.
