Start researching employers today for DC’s largest free military career fair tomorrow

If you’re a servicemember or veteran in the Washington, D.C., area and you’re looking for a civilian job, you might want to clear your calendar Tuesday.
The Military Officers Association of America is holding what it bills as “D.C.’s largest free military-focused career fair” at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
(Experts on military job fairs say there are three key things you can do to stand out -- research the employers ahead of time, focus on the few you really want to work for, and get your elevator speech down pat.)
About 100 employers have signed up for the MOAA fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. MOAA will run seminars on veteran career-related topics beginning at 8 a.m.
Covered topics include how to work a job fair, how to interview and how to prepare an application for a federal government job. There will also be two sessions in the afternoon, one on evaluating employer benefits and the other on navigating the post-9/11 GI Bill.
So, you’ve got the rest of the afternoon and this evening to do your research. Among the employers attending will be Microsoft, Amazon, Raytheon Company, the Drug Enforcement Agency, Wal-Mart, and many others.
