Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) Photo Contest

The Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) sponsored a photo contest from 2000 to 2006 in an effort to collect images of native species, habitats, and landscapes that tell the story of Nevada.

NBI is a partnership among the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Stanford University’s Center for Conservation Biology, the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Nevada Division of Wildlife, the Nevada Natural Heritage Program, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service.

NBI utilizes graduate students, professors, and agency expertise to conduct critical research and assemble data to develop land management actions designed to conserve species and habitat in the state. NBI plays a key role in helping preclude the need to list species, and in conserving Nevada’s biological diversity.

The Photos submitted to NBI are not under copyright protection. They can be used for non-profit publications with permission and must include the artist's name.
