CDC's Injury Center 20th Anniversary
This year marks a significant milestone for the field of Injury and Violence Prevention, as we are celebrating the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control’s (Injury Center) 20 years of service and dedication to saving lives and protecting people from injuries and violence. We see this as a celebration not only of the accomplishments of the Injury Center, but a celebration of the work of the field of injury and violence prevention. During this anniversary year, we hope that you will join us in Celebrating the Past. Protecting the Future.
Throughout the year, we will host a series of events and activities to honor the anniversary and to showcase the exceptional work of the field. We will use the occasion to reflect on the progress we’ve made in developing a solid foundation of injury prevention science and practice and create more visibility for injury and violence prevention as an integral part of public health. We’ll also look to the future as we continue our collective efforts to respond to emerging trends and support the translation, dissemination, and adoption of proven and promising interventions and policies to address injuries and violence.
We encourage you to participate in, promote, and support the 20th anniversary. There are a number of ways to do this. This web site provides information and resources, including a calendar of events and a toolkit, to help you plan events to raise awareness of injury and violence prevention in your community. Please check the web site often as new information and resources will be added throughout the year!
We value what you are doing to contribute to the field of injury and violence prevention. Though we have much to celebrate about our past, we have much more to do. Working together we can protect the future and make injury and violence prevention the premier public health achievement of the next decade!
Sincerely,
Linda C. Degutis, DrPH, MSN
