12/8/2011 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Two Air Force captains have been selected to participate in the Chief of Staff Prestigious Ph.D. Program, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced Nov 7.

Captains Miriam Krieger, from the Air Combat Command, and Daniel Magruder, from Air Forces Central Command, will begin their program in the fall, said Maj. Cotina Jenkins-Sellers, the AFPC officer in charge of developmental education.

Two alternates were also selected in the event primary selectees are unable to attend. Alternates are Captains Craig Neuman, from the Air Force Special Operations Command, and Joseph Brown, from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

"Selections were challenging because every applicant had an outstanding package," Jenkins-Sellers said.

Selections were based on academic experience and job performance, said Jenkins-Sellers, who explained that the program exists to identify promising officers early in their careers and begin the development that will help them become Air Force and joint leaders capable of broad, strategic, critical thinking and decision-making.
