Lamar Mair is a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group. He received a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in Applied Sciences and Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His doctoral research focused on fabricating magnetic micromaterials and nanomaterials and investigating their use in biomedical applications, including magnetofection, quantitative magnetophoresis, and in-solution object manipulation. Lamar is working with Andrew Berglund to control the motion and dynamics of magnetically-actuated particles (“swimmers”) using single-particle tracking and real-time feedback.
