Marcelo Davanço

Marcelo Davanço is a CNST/Caltech Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nanofabrication Research Group in the CNST.  He received a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  During his doctoral studies, he worked with InP-based photonic integrated circuits incorporating 2D photonic crystals.  After obtaining his Ph.D., he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan, where he worked with optical metamaterials, organic microcavities with strong exciton-photon coupling, and hemispherical organic focal plane arrays.  Marcelo then moved to the CNST, where he developed new techniques for efficient spectroscopy and single photon extraction from single semiconductor quantum dots.  He is currently working with Kartik Srinivasan, in collaboration with Oskar Painter at Caltech, on developing methods for quantum transduction using cavity optomechanics.
