Erich Walter is a CNST Visiting Fellow in the Energy Research Group and a Visiting Assistant Research Scientist at the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics of the University of Maryland. Erich received an A.B. in Chemistry and Physics from Vassar College, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, with a concentration in Chemical and Materials Physics. His graduate research focused on nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, applications, and related phenomena. Erich then performed postdoctoral research at Columbia University, studying the synthesis and characterization of transition metal oxide and carbon nanostructures. In 2007, Erich joined the Display and Graphics Business Laboratory at 3M (St. Paul, MN), where he developed bistable display technologies. Erich joined the CNST in 2011, where he is developing fundamental measurements of nanoscale materials for applications in energy storage.
