Just like every airborne or special forces soldier checks their equipment every time, so do I.

As crew chief of the US Army Top Fuel dragster, one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world, there's a lot of things we have to worry about from run to run.
Although often forgotten over the intense roar of the engines, the tires on a top fuel dragster play a crucial role in how the car will run down the racetrack. Goes to show that technological advantage is available when the right types of technology are combined.
Are US Army soldiers rely on cutting edge technology in order to complete each mission. Army technology comes in all shapes and sizes designed to make soldiers jobs faster, easier and safer. The end result is the best prepared soldiers in the world, one that can appreciate the necessity of each piece of technology.
There's a lot that goes into preparing a set of tires for a US Army dragster. When we take 'em to the racetrack, there's a lot of things that we consider: The diameter of the tire, which we can adjust within a couple inches which gives us more or less traction and the air pressure that we run in the tire.
When we go to the racetrack, first thing we do is a "burnout", gives us a nice clean surface to run on. After we back up from the burnout, we'll have a guy on each tire who'll actually wipe the tire off to make sure it's perfectly clean so when we stage the car we'll have maximum traction we can get on that run.
These tires might look simple, but they are crucial to our success out on the racetrack. There are thousands of variables that can effect how the tires perform on each race day and we have to be prepared for all of them.
In the field, our US Army soldiers have to be prepared of all the possible outcomes before making decisions. Outstanding technology and the knowledge to utilize it to it's fullest potential is what separates good teams from great teams.
