ODEO-Related Employee Resources:
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Employees who are experiencing personal or work-related problems can seek help to resolve those problems with a professional counselor through the Employee Assistance Program. Problems relating to family/relationships, workplace issues, personal/emotional, alcohol/drugs, health, and behavioral can all be addressed through counseling. Employees can call the EAP program at any time: 1-800-222-0364, or TTY 1-888-262-7848 to make an appointment with a counselor. No referral is necessary, and services are confidential.
- Supervisors may also contact the EAP for assistance with resolving workplace problems, and supervisors can also refer employees to the EAP.
- EAP Links:
- Cooperative Resolution Program
- The Cooperative Resolution Program (CRP) offers Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) along with other strategies and techniques to address conflict with a proactive, preventative and problem-solving approach. Services from CRP are available to all REE employees. The April 2011 edition of VOICES has two articles on the CRP.
- Civil Rights Complaint Process
- Employees and applicants for employment who believe they have been subjected to employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (if 40 or over), disability, reprisal (for prior participation in an EEO activity or having opposed discrimination), political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, or genetic information, have the right to file an EEO complaint. Contact with an EEO Counselor must occur within 45 days of the date of the alleged discriminatory act, event, or in the case of a personnel action. ARS Special Emphasis Observances:
The following months have been designated as officially recognized Special Emphasis Observances by USDA. These observances (with the exception of April) are derived from the Special Emphasis Programs which have been designed to increase workforce participation among these populations. Many locations choose to celebrate each of these observances with pot luck meals, videos, speakers, presentations, sharing of recommended readings, and/or on-line resources, etc. In addition, some locations sponsor an annual diversity awareness day. The purpose of having some sort of dedicated event, or sharing of resources is to bring attention to these populations and their many contributions, as well as raise awareness among employees about a wide range of topics relating to diversity, culture, history, etc. The NPA Diversity Bulletin Board has a number of resources relating to diversity in general along with materials relevant to each special emphasis month. (When accessing the NPA Diversity Bulletin Board Sharepoint site, use the same user name and password used to access Outlook).
