Ryan Newman: There was a time when racing was a free for all with individual drivers all running on their own agendas. Quite often these drivers found themselves wrecked, out of the race and wondering what they've done wrong. Even In the present day racing where it appears to be an individual sport. Ultimately though, its equally important to have great teammates to work along side you in order to succeeds at the highest levels.
Solder #1: Soldiers live by values like loyalty and duty - values that are building blocks of teamwork. The army offers hundreds of different opportunities for people looking to serve their country. But one of the things that does not change no matter what your rank, job or mission is the need to work as a team.
Ryan Newman: Racing is the same in a lot of ways. In both cases the best results come from being able to depend on a teammate and the entire team around you. By working together to overcome the challenges of a mission, soldiers display teamwork that great teams like ours at Stewart Haas Racing admire.
Soldier #2: US Army appreciates the respect that you have for soldiers and you represent us at the track. Can you explain some of the aspects of teamwork that's a part of racing?
Ryan Newman: Absolutely. In racing, the driver needs to lay heavily on members of the team to carry out their individual tasks. He needs a spotter to keep him aware of what's going on around him. Crew members to keep the car in peak condition and a crew chief to oversee the entire operation and ensure the team is functioning at its highest level. But racing as a team goes beyond a single crew. From my teammate Tony Stewart and me, our successes is mutual since we both drive for Stewart Haas Racing.
Soldier #2: That's really no different than the units of army strong soldiers working on the same mission.
Ryan Newman: The sense of personal responsibility, duty to the team is something that requires emotional and mental strength. Soldiers, more than anybody else I know, dedicate themselves to building strength and living by the values that build teamwork. When the stakes are as high as they are, the soldiers defend this nation, teamwork is the absolute must.
Soldier #1: I couldn't have said it better myself, Ryan. The ultimate level of teamwork is what soldiers display around the world everyday. Even with an organization as large as the US Army, having million of soldiers stationed around the world, each soldier is a member of the team focusing on mission accomplishment.
Ryan Newman: The teamwork displayed everyday in the US army is just one of the many reasons I'm proud to drive the number thirty-nine US Army Haas Automation Chevrolet. The way soldiers work together inspires our team to work together better, faster and smarter. There' s nothing better than being part of a strong team. A team of top pros doing what they each do best, all reaching for the same goals. Good teammates make great teams and great teams, win.
Soldier #2: For all the ways a soldier may be different than a driver, we're more alike than we are different. Dedication to helping a team win and being a good teammate is something a soldier lives everyday.
Ryan Newman: Just like the army strong soldiers we represent the power of teamwork does more than just make you better, it makes you stronger.
