Racing Episode 4

Explaining the technology both the Army and the Racing team use and comparing them.

Tony Schumacher: "I don't think that there is a subject that I learned in high school or college that does not pertain to the United States Army Race Car. When you look at that car the engineering, the math, the science, all of it, even the history. Let's face it; it's the US Army."
Staff Sergeant - Kristopher Smith: "I think with us being in the United States Army we have the best science technology so it gives us an advantage over our enemies. Whether it's our vehicles or our equipment inside the vehicle, our weapons. We have the best equipment in the world."
Sergeant - Dustin White: "Specifically, to my job math does pretty much everything for it. You need to be able to read your Bolisic Solutions and your ranges and everything that your vehicle computes as far as knocking down a target."
Specialist - Thomas Carter: "It takes a book of tables, you look up numbers, it takes a map and some extremely hard math. With a lot of variables to figure out where that round is gonna land."
Ryan Newman: "Technology in our sport has changed so much in the last ten years, it's changed a ton in the last two or three years. Just since I've been a part of it and got to see it. What we do aerodynamically, with our seven pos shaker from the suspension standpoint, the way the cars get built, the templates, all the things all the aspects of it. I don't know if there's a single job here at Stuart House that somebody doesn't touch a computer during the day. So from a technology standpoint, that's entirely different than it was five years ago."
Specialist - Nathan Walter: "You have to have a certain expertise and all that stuff because technology is always changing."
Staff Sergeant David Rosmarin: "On a daily basis you do you math, you do use science, you do use technology and it may be something you've never used before. But you will never be in a situation in the Military that you are not trained for."
Specialist - Thomas Carter: "It requires hours of studying, just add the school it takes like eight hours of studying a day. It's extremely technically demanding job with a lot of things that you have to know."
Ryan Newman: "The aerodynamicist, what you think of, is just a guy that reads numbers. But ultimately is a guy that can manipulate the templates, do things underneath the race car to make a difference to have that extra, sometimes it's five or ten counts of down force, which is about the equivalent of a milk jug. But ultimately over five hundred miles makes a good bit of difference."
