SGT Caleb Barrieau: The earthquake produced a tremendous tragedy with incomprehensible human suffering, but aid is getting to the Haitian people, more today than yesterday, more tomorrow than today.
Injured and sick line up at a temporary clinic run by Medical Teams International and assisted by paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion.
1st LT. Carrie Mayer: The entirety of the mission is we have this specific area of operations we go out we patrol it everyday. We locate the best places to distribute whatever we have, be it the humanitarian daily rations or the water or the rice and we just want to build good report with the people so we can get them the aid that they need at this time.
SGT Caleb Barrieau: Meanwhile other paratroopers from the same unit help a local school and orphanage by providing a large tent they requested a couple of days earlier.
Children of the Haitian orphanage were displaced after the earthquake damaged theirbuilding. They made a tent city out of tarps and sheets to provide cover from the harsh sun. Paratroopers were more than happy to help with such a noble cause. I Love it, the more we can help the better I feel.
Knowing that the Haitian people are resilient and tough paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division are passionate and committed to assisting and delivering the Haitian people out of this tragedy.
Reporting from Haiti, I'm Army Sergeant Caleb Barrieau.
