Gail Crum is the Secretary to the Director of the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). After graduating from Strayer's College, Ms. Crum started her Federal career at NIST/NBS in 1967 as a clerk-steno in the Office of the Director, Institute for Applied Technology. Throughout the years, she has worked as Secretary to the Director, Center for Building Technology; Deputy Director, Institute for Applied Technology; Director, Building and Fire Research Laboratory; and Director, Engineering Laboratory. Ms. Crum has helped coordinate activities for National Engineers' Week for NIST, sending volunteers out to make presentations at local schools. She has also worked closely with the training office to develop a training orientation program for new clerical staff. In 1978, Ms. Crum was awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award. Ms. Crum also volunteers her time as secretary to the Board of Directors of Fairfield Football Inc. and helps her husband where needed on their active dairy farm. |
