Services Available
Over the years, the SBA has developed many small business loan and assistance programs, special outreach efforts and initiatives to aid and inform small businesses. The following describes briefly all the services and information available through this office:
Financial assistance for new or existing businesses is provided through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. (SBA's Preferred Lenders in the South Florida District)
Technical Assistance & Counseling
Free counseling, advice and information on starting, better operating or expanding a small business is available through SCORE and the Florida Small Business Development Center network.
8(a) Business Development Program
Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals is available through the 8(a) Business Development Program. For additional information, contact Jeffery Campbell at 305-536-5521 ext. 156.
Women-Owned Businesses
Women's Business Ownership Representatives are available to advise women business owners. For additional information, contact Women Business Ownership Representative Althea Harris at 305-536-5521 ext. 152.
SBA sponsors two Women's Business Centers (WBC) in South Florida. They are the Women's Business Center / Florida Institute for Technology in Melbourne, 321-674-7007 and the Florida Women's Business Center / The Center for Technology, Enterprise & Development, Inc., in Delray Beach, 561-265-3790. Both are part of SBA's national network of WBC's that provide a wide range of services to women entrepreneurs at all levels of business development.
Veteran-Owned Businesses
If you're a veteran, you can get business counseling and information about SBA guaranteed loans. Contact Robert Chavarria at 813-228-2100 ext. 24 for more information. Also contact the Veteran's Business Outreach Center at University of West Florida at 850-271-1108.
International Trade Assistance
Small businesses engaged in exporting or exploring international trade should contact the U.S. Export Assistance Centers in Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale or Miami. For additional information on SBA Export Programs, contact Mary Hernandez in Miami at 305-526-7425 ext. 21.
