AWIPS II GovernanceAWIPS II Governance Definition: Governance is the specific set of measurable policies and controls, standards and best practices methodologies that document the AWIPS decision making process in the areas of requirement definition, development paradigm, release process, installation, and system standards AWIPS II Governance Goals: (1) Maintain the integrity and improve maintainability of current baseline so that it can meet the operational needs of the field; (2) Provide quality products with confidence; (3) Provide an atmosphere for quicker controlled deployments; (4) Provide flexibility for developers to do creative work: and (5) Provide atmosphere to foster collaboration Governance Vision Team: The Governance Vision Team was assigned the task of defining the decision processes for AWIPS II. This link includes a list of project sponsors and stakeholders. Stakeholders – Persons or organizations that are actively involved in the project or whose interests may be positively or negatively affected by the policies and controls, standards and best practices methodologies developed by this project or have influence over the project and it’s deliverables.
