Compliance Assistance


OSHA and Altec will provide information and guidance and access to training resources that will help protect employees' health and safety, including non-English or limited English speaking workers. The Alliance will address safe operation and maintenance of cranes, chippers, digger derricks, and insulated and non-insulated aerial devices, including tree care devices. The Alliance's goals include:

Raising Awareness of OSHA's Rulemaking and Enforcement Initiatives:

  • To share information on OSHA's National Emphasis Programs, Regulatory Agenda, and opportunities to participate in the rulemaking process.

Outreach and communication:

  • To develop information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and to develop ways of communicating such information (e.g., print and electronic media, electronic assistance tools, and OSHA's and the Altec's Web sites) to employers and workers in the industry.
  • To speak, exhibit, or appear at OSHA's or Altec's conferences, local meetings or events such as the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition.
  • To share information among OSHA personnel and industry safety and health professionals regarding Altec's good practices or effective approaches through training programs, workshops, seminars, and lectures (or any other applicable forum) developed by the participants.
  • To work with other Alliance participants on specific issues and projects on the safe operation and maintenance of cranes, chippers, digger derricks and insulated and non-insulated aerial devices including tree care devices that are addressed and developed through the Alliance Program.

Activities and Events

  • May 6-12, 2012: 2012 North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week. Altec and a number of other Alliance Program participants support 2012 NAOSH Week. Sponsored annually by ASSE and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, the Week focuses on the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace. 2012 Theme: "Safety, What Every Business Needs."
  • October 2007 through December 2011: Mobile Crane Training. Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec safety managers conducted 21 training seminars on the safe operation of mobile cranes for OSHA staff. [More…]

  • April 27, 2010: 2010 Annual On-site Consultation Training Conference, San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter Hotel, San Diego, California.
    • Darin Hinnergardt, Master Training Instructor, Altec Industries, Inc; Daniel J. Moss, Technical Consultant, Standards and Safety Services, Association of Equipment Manufacturers; and Stephen Smith, President Elect, Scaffolding Industry Association; will present "Aerial Work Platforms: Safety Issues and Emerging Technologies."
  • October 6-8, 2009: International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), Lexington, Kentucky.
    • Representatives from the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program staffed an Alliance Program exhibit booth during the exposition.
    • Representatives from the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program participated in an educational session during the exposition
