Colorado River Basin Water Supply and Demand Study
The Colorado River Basin Water Supply and Demand Study Interim Report No.1 was recently released. It provides a comprehensive snapshot of the initial effort to define current and future imbalances in Colorado River water supply and demand over the next 50 years.
National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center
Relatively little scientific information exists on which to inform adaptation or management of fish and wildlife in the face of climate change. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the science agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior, is meeting this challenge through the new National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center.
Water Efficiency
Water is one of our most precious natural resources, and although the United States has an abundant supply, it is not evenly distributed throughout the country. Recent droughts illustrate that many areas are severely undersupplied. Federal facilities have a tremendous opportunity to lead by example within their communities to showcase innovative and cost-effective water efficiency strategies.
Desalination in California
Orange County, California used Title XVI funding from the Bureau of Reclamation to build this water purification facility in Fountain Valley, CA. It is an indirect potable reuse project that uses desalination and advanced oxidation technologies.
