On October 7, 2011, the Secretary of the Interior announced the locations selected for the Department of the Interior's Pacific Islands Regional Climate Science Center (PI CSC). The PI CSC will be hosted by the University of Hawaii - Manoa in Honolulu, with the University of Hawaii - Hilo and the University of Guam as consortium partners.

The PI CSC will be part of a network of eight CSCs created to provide scientific information, tools, and techniques that managers and other parties interested in land, water, wildlife and cultural resources can use to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate change.
