SGT Holly Princevalle

Holly talks about why she chose to join the Army and how it affected her parents.

My name is SGT Holly Princevalle, I'm a 63 Bravo (63B), which is a Vehicle Mechanic, and I'm from Bellevue, Washington.
Truthfully, I was kind of going nowhere with my life. And I was getting ready to graduate high school; I was about 17 years old. I was working a job. I really didn't like school; I wasn't looking forward to college at all. And I had always liked the Army. The idea of the military.
After I had talked to the Recruiters and they had given me all the information, I was pretty much sold after that. My mom, she was incredibly supportive. My dad on the other hand, he wasn't exactly supportive of it, he was like, "my baby girl is going off to war and she doesn't know what she's doing."
But once I had graduated Basic and AIT and they came down to see me, they had totally changed. They were so proud of me, and how far I'd come from the person I was to the person I am now.
