Transportation and Directions for Fuel Cycle Information Exchange

The FCIX 2012 will be held at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Auditorium in Rockville, Maryland.

Nearby airports include: Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

In addition, an Amtrak train station is located in Washington DC to serve the metropolitan area. Washington DC also has a Metrorail subway system. Metrorail can take you to and from Reagan National Airport, Union Station (Amtrak), or many other stations in the Washington DC area.

Directions to FCIX 2012 by Car

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

  1. From the airport terminal, follow the Washington exit, which will place you on the George Washington Memorial Parkway heading north.
  2. Follow the George Washington Memorial Parkway (along the Potomac River) northwest for 12 miles to I-495
  3. Take Interstate 495/Capital Beltway north toward Maryland.
  4. Stay to left and exit to Interstate 270 North (to Rockville/Frederick).
  5. Take exit 4A onto Montrose Rd East.  After 1 mile, keep right to merge onto Montrose Parkway.
  6. Turn right at Executive Boulevard.
  7. Turn left at Marinelli Road.   
  8. Keep going straight on Marinelli Road. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be on your right after crossing Rockville Pike.

From Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

  1. From airport terminal follow the Dulles Access Road west toward Washington, DC.
  2. Proceed for 12 miles to exit to Interstate 495 to Baltimore/Richmond
  3. Merge onto I-495 Capital Beltway north via exit 18 toward Baltimore/Bethesda.
  4. Stay to left and exit to Interstate 270 North (to Rockville/Frederick).
  5. Take exit 4A onto Montrose Rd East.  After 1 mile, turn right to merge onto Montrose Parkway.
  6. Turn right at Executive Boulevard.
  7. Turn left at Marinelli Road 
  8. Keep going straight on Marinelli Road.  The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be on your right after crossing Rockville Pike.

From the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

  1. From the airport terminal, follow the exit for Interstate 195 west toward Washington, DC.
  2. Proceed on I-195 for 5 miles, then take exit 4B onto Interstate 95 south toward Washington.
  3. Proceed on I-95 for 20 miles. At exit 27, merge onto Interstate 495 Capital Beltway west toward Silver Spring.
  4. Proceed on I-495 for 9 miles, and then take exit 34 to Rockville Pike/MD-355 North.
  5. Proceed North on MD-355/Rockville Pike for 2 miles. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be on your right.

From Virginia and points south via the Capital Beltway

  1. Follow Interstate 495 toward the west and north, across the Potomac River.
  2. Stay to left and exit to Interstate 270 North (to Rockville/Frederick).
  3. Take exit 4A onto Montrose Rd East.  After 1 mile, keep right to merge onto Montrose Parkway.
  4. Turn right at Executive Boulevard
  5. Turn left at Marinelli Road

From Maryland and points north via Interstate 270

  1. Follow Interstate 270 South.
  2. Take exit 4A onto Montrose Rd East.  After 1 mile, turn right to merge onto Montrose Parkway.
  3. Turn right at Executive Boulevard
  4. Turn left at Marinelli Road
  5. Keep going straight on Marinelli Road.  The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be on your right after crossing Rockville Pike.

Directions to FCIX 2012 by Public Transportation

Metrorail

From downtown Washington, DC, take the Red Line (toward Shady Grove) to the White Flint Station. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be across the street.

From points north, take the Red Line (toward Glenmont) to the White Flint station.  The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be across the street.

Amtrak

To reach the FCIX by train, travel by Amtrak to Union Station in downtown Washington, DC, and then take the Metro Red Line (toward Shady Grove) to the White Flint station.  The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be across the street.
