Breast Feeding Basics

This class is designed to help you learn the essentials of breastfeeding so that you can provide the best food possible for your baby: your own milk. You will learn how to position and attach your baby to make breastfeeding comfortable and enjoyable for both of you. You’ll learn how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk, and how breastfeeding benefits you as well. You’ll also learn strategies to prevent or minimize common problems some women experience when they first start breastfeeding. Our goal is to give you the knowledge you need to learn how to breastfeed effectively and comfortably so you can enjoy this most rewarding and special time in you and your baby’s life.

When you attend this class, bring a doll or stuffed animal to practice positioning. If you have a breastfeeding pillow, please bring it with you so we can assist you in using it. You are welcome to bring a support partner.

We would like to congratulate you on your choice to breastfeed your baby and look forward to seeing you in class!

Sibling Classes

This class is taught in a small group format and is designed to provide the 3-6 year old child with information and skills to help welcome their new sibling into their family. The class is designed to ease the anxiety an older child might face when mom goes to the hospital, and to help prepare them for the role of big brother or big sister. Age specific techniques are used, and the older sibling is taught how to interact with, and if appropriate, to help care for, a new baby.
