Brown Announces More Than $2 Million For Advanced Energy Projects in Central Ohio
Two Ohio-based advanced energy projects will receive new federal resources to expand access to clean energy. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus and Det Norske Veritas in Dublin will receive funds to help improve electrical grid efficiency and reliability and provide increased energy security to the armed forces. The projects are two of 19 projects in 14 states supported through the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) program’s Advanced Management and Protection of Energy-Storage Devices (AMPED) and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs.

Sen. Brown Announces New Federal Resources for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. to Develop New, Natural Rubber Tires and Bioenergy from Guayule Plant
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, in Hancock County, has been awarded a $6,854,213 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Biomass Research and Development Initiative. Cooper Tire & Rubber, the lead partner in a consortium consisting of two universities, three areas of the USDA, and five companies, will use these funds to study the use of the guayule plant as a major source of natural rubber.

Brown Congratulates Napoleon’s Campbell’s Soup Facility on New Solar Field
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today congratulated the Campbell’s Soup Company on its new solar field at its Napoleon facility. The company installed 9.8 megawatts of solar power and will hold a celebration today to unveil the new solar array. Brown’s Northwest Ohio regional representative will attend the event.

Brown Announces Cooperative Agreement Between DOE And USEC To Provide Critical Funds For Piketon’s American Centrifuge Project
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced a framework for USEC and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that will advance critical resources for the American Centrifuge Plant (ACP) in Piketon. The framework includes a cost-sharing agreement, providing the ACP with resources for research, development, and deployment (RD&D) funds by utilizing “tails,” a byproduct of uranium enrichment, and self-funding from USEC.
