Wildlife Health

Some wildlife diseases, such as West Nile virus or rabies, are well known because of their potential effect on humans and other animals. Other wildlife diseases, such as avian botulism, are influenced by human effects on the Nation's landscapes and waters. Still others, like avian influenza, sit poised as potential wildlife health issues. USGS plays a unique role monitoring wildlife health, responding to emerging issues, and researching the role of pathogens in the environment.
