EUCOM Chaplain Nominated for Promotion to Flag

The U.S. European Command is honored to congratulate Navy Captain Mark Tidd, the EUCOM Command Chaplain, on his nomination to promotion to Rear Admiral (lower half).  We were all excited to see the announcement in the Dept. of Defense press release last Thursday.  Chaplain Tidd has moved mountains within the Religious Programs arena and enabled EUCOM to go in some slightly non-traditional directions, especially in the area of engaging with partner nation military chaplaincies and other religious leaders in the European theater.

I served with Chaplain Tidd in the late 90's aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) in Norfolk, Va.  I take great pride in knowing another "TR" Shipmate is moving up to the senior leadership ranks of our military.  He will be one of only two flag-rank Navy Chaplains and serve as the Deputy Chief of Chaplains for the Navy, while also serving as the Chief of Chaplains for the U.S. Marine Corps.

"Good on ya, Admiral!"

CAPT Ed Buclatin,
EUCOM Director of Public Affairs

Too bad that Mark Tidd caved in to the fundamentalists and decided to continue discrimination again gays in the military. Great job you're doing, Mark! Shame on you.
