Recreating on public lands in Idaho can mean relaxing while fishing, or burning energy while backpacking through primitive canyons or mountains or paddling through world-class whitewater.

Swift-flowing, lapis-blue rivers and cascading waterfalls lace north Idaho, along with the greatest concentration of lakes in the Northwest.  Southwestern Idaho is a dramatic montage of desert, rivers and mountains that has lured visitors for centuries.  Birds of prey have taken up more permanent residence in awe-inspiring canyons.  Lakes in the central mountains brim with trout.  Whitewater waits to be kayaked.  In eastern Idaho, the snow-capped Tetons feed thundering waterfalls and free-flowing rivers, with spring and fall a kaleidoscope of color and light.

Add to your experience with a visit to lands and sites managed by the BLM's partner agencies.
