Sarah Martin is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where she earned her MA in Geography and Environmental Studies. She accepted the coordinator position after being the summer intern in 2012. Martin's interests in sustainability were birthed following a trip to Thailand where she was able to experience a culture being "sustainable" because that's the way life had to be lived. The trip to Thailand was a catalyst for her to change her program from Communications to GES. She also accepted a position as UCCS's recycling coordinator where she worked for over two years in advancing the awareness and practice of waste reduction.

Martin's passion for sustainability is steeped in teaching and education with a desire to create opportunities for cross-collaboration between individuals and organizations. One of her favorite quotes is from Mahatma Gandhi - "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." Sustainable communities must emerge from individual efforts and individuals need to know they can and do make a difference.

Besides her interests in sustainability, Martin is a yoga instructor & student, snowboarder, and mountain biker. Her avid interest in yoga has been the foundation for her approach toward sustainability and is the philosophy that she strives to live by.
