James Brandmueller has been the coordinator of the Eastern Sierra Regional (Reno) Clean Cities coalition since 2006. Additionally, he is the principal of Clean Energy Concepts, an alternative fuels and energy consulting firm he formed in Reno, Nevada, in May 2001. Brandmueller represents clients in several alternative fuels as well as stationary energy sources. He is conversant in many energy programs operated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and with many state programs. Brandmueller has also had extensive experience representing issues before local, state, and federal legislative and executive bodies.

Brandmueller was with the Nevada State Energy Office from November 1996 to May 2001. He served as the transportation projects manager, as the state energy program manager, and finally as the administrator of that office. Upon accepting his initial assignment, Brandmueller immediately coordinated completion and revision of a report on alternative fuels to the Nevada legislature. He has managed several grants for transportation projects in addition to his work with the DOE Clean Cities program.

Brandmueller has been the major author of several papers and works in the energy and alternative fuels field. He was the co-author of the Nevada Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory study prepared for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and developed an alternative fuel school bus tool for fleet managers, which is available through the U.S. Department of Energy.

Brandmueller has a Juris Doctorate from Western State University and has done graduate work in political science with a research emphasis in government management at the University of Nevada. Brandmueller has also completed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's air quality management course.
