Services & Programs
The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Virginia is involved in a number of programs and projects in our community, which include the following:
Victims of crime may experience feelings of confusion, frustration, fear and anger. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia is dedicated to making sure that victims of federal crimes and their family members are treated with compassion, fairness and respect.
Weed & Seed is a national initiative by the Department of Justice to "weed" out crime in a targeted community and then to "seed" that area with positive resources designed to permanently uplift and improve the quality of life for its children and families.
The United States Attorney's Office along with the Department of Justice offers funding opportunities to conduct research, to support law enforcement activities in state and local jurisdictions, to provide training and technical assistance, and to implement programs that improve the criminal justice system.
Project Safe Childhood (PSC) is a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 that aims to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. The threat of sexual predators soliciting children for physical sexual contact is well-known and serious; the danger of perpetrators who produce, distribute, and possess child pornography is equally dramatic and disturbing.
