SETF Insulates Firehouse

    May 17, 2012

The Sharon Energy Task Force (“SETF”), through funds received under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (“EECBG”) program, is assisting the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department to insulate the Sharon Firehouse.  The Task Force has provided more than $16,000 towards the project.

As a part of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed by Congress in early 2009, each state was awarded a block grant that was then distributed to its various towns or municipalities. Under this program Sharon received $33,750.

The SETF used part of the money for several energy-saving projects within the town. These projects included the purchase and installation of a power management system for more than 170 computers at the Sharon Center School, completion of 220 home energy assessments that identified energy and cost savings measures and rebates for Sharon residents and municipal energy audits of various town buildings (including the firehouse).  Read more about this story in the May 17 edition of the Litchfield County Times.
