Marion Thorkildsen
West Point Admissions Representative, Washington State

Marion has spent the past six years serving as a West Point Admissions Representative in Washington State helping candidates and their families through the application process and in organizing informational events that educate the public about the United States Military Academy. Her involvement was launched after one of her own sons went through the process and became a cadet with the Class of 2007.

In keeping with a long-standing interest in educational issues, Marion has enjoyed working at the local level for many years to enhance the educational environment and experience of students. She was elected to two school board terms in northern New Jersey serving as both vice president and president, assisted with policy development at a new charter-type school in Washington State and supervised an international exchange program for scholarship recipients from former Soviet States (FLEX).

Marion was raised in central Florida and attended University of Florida and Shenandoah University (Winchester, Virginia) where she graduated magna cum laude with degrees in Nursing and Natural Science. She worked as an RN in acute care (internal medicine) at the University of Virginia and later in Morristown, New Jersey. Following that, she worked as a research analyst for a chemical consulting firm producing proprietary reports for US and international clients.
