Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that President
Clinton signed the fiscal year 2001 appropriations bill for the Department
of the Interior on October 11th. This bill included $23 million for
the operations of the American Samoa Government, $10 million for construction
projects, and $1.2 million for the National Park of American Samoa.
“I am pleased that ASG’s funding for the current fiscal year is
now enacted into law, including a 24% increase in funding for our National
Park,” said Faleomavaega. “I will be returning to American Samoa
very soon, and look forward to a busy few weeks.”
Only three of the 13 appropriations bills have been signed by the
President, and Congress is sending the Chief Executive a third bill authorizing
the government to continue operating – this time through October 20th.
This bill covers all departments and agencies for which annual appropriations
have not been signed into law. |
