WASHINGTON, D.C.—OPM LAUNCHES E-SCHOLAR WEBSITE WHICH ALLOWS STUDENTS TO OBTAIN INFO ABOUT FEDERAL JOBS AND FUNDS TO FURTHER EDUCATION

Congressman Faleomavaega announced that the Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management informed him of the recently launched e-Scholar web site which will allow students, age sixteen and over, to obtain valuable information about more than four hundred Federally-funded opportunities valued at over $700 million to further education.  This new website contains information about scholarships, fellowships, internships, grants, and cooperative programs, all centralized on the internet at one user-friendly site.

“The web address for this new site is www.studentjobs.gov/e-scholar.htm,” Congressman Faleomavaega said.  “At this site, students will find information about overseas study programs, internship opportunities available in our Nation's capital, and scholarship programs offered by every State in our Country.”

“Students will also find information about federal jobs and I would encourage our young people to consider the educational opportunities provided by the Federal Government.  In many cases, these opportunities are truly wide-ranging and diverse and can lead to rewarding careers in public service.”

“On September 9, 2003, I forwarded additional information about this program to Governor Togiola and I commend the Governor for his leadership in improving education in the Territory.  Once again, I would like to encourage our young people to take advantage of these opportunities and, as always, I am available to answer any questions our students may have regarding the e-Scholar website,” the Congressman concluded.
