Description: Our 23rd Annual Take Pride In America is a celebration to increase public awareness of their National Forest and allow people the opportunity to contribute and care for their public lands. Description: Statue of Liberty National Monument – Ellis Island More than 500 people are expected to volunteer as Statue of Liberty National Monument – Ellis Island hosts the National Parks America Tour event on May 16, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will meet at Battery Park and Liberty State Park and take ferries to Ellis Island. A special sail time for ferries is to be determined. Volunteer projects include polishing the Wall of Honor, retiring American flags, sidewalk polishing on Liberty Island, as well as raking and grounds work. Description: Two couples are needed Memorial Day weekend 2008 through Labor Day weekend to work at Ice Harbor Dam Visitor Center. The volunteers will provide information and courtesy services to visitors, stock and inventory brochures, give informal tours, and assist Rangers with special events. A qualified couple would be energetic, have good communication and organization skills, enjoy assisting and visiting with people. A free full-hook up RV site with 30 amp service at Charbonneau Campground will be provided to each couple during their work period. Volunteer uniforms consisting of shirts or vests, baseball caps, and a name tag will also be provided.
