Although testing for illicit drugs is more prevalent than alcohol testing, results from two nationwide surveys reveal that alcohol testing of employees is on the rise. This article describes the prevalence and characteristics of alcohol-testing programs in U.S. worksites, using data derived from 1993 and 1995 surveys sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
