SP 250 series for Sensor Science Division Calibrations — Detailed descriptions of the calibration services offered by this division.

Optical radiation measurements:

A national measurement system for radiometry, photometry, and pyrometry based upon absolute detectors — This document outlines NIST's methods of maintaining radiometric, photometric, and pyrometric units based upon the use of absolute detector systems.

NIST Technical Note 1438: Optical radiation measurement with selected detectors and matched electronic circuits between 200 nm and 20 μm (13.9 MB pdf) — A summary of results about the construction of accurate and wide dynamic range radiometers with high performance detectors.

NIST Technical Note 1621: Optical radiation measurements based on detector standards (8.0 MB pdf) — A collection of 36 research papers, published from 1996 to the present, detailing the conversion of high-performance optical radiometers to standards adn the realization of new spectral-responsivity-based scales.

Self study manual on optical radiation measurement — A valuable and useful reference for the field of radiometry, consisting of a series of eight documents from 1977 to 1985.

Molecular spectroscopy:

Diatomic calculations: Equations and theory — A monograph describing procedures for performing quantum mechanical calculations of rotational energy levels and rotational line intensities in diatomic molecules.

Methane symmetry operations — A catalog of explicit symmetry operations for the vibrational, rotational, and nuclear spin functions of methane, and the use of these operations in determining symmetry labels and selection rules.

Satellite calibrations:

NISTIR 7047: Satellite instrument calibration for measuring global climate change (3.7 MB pdf) — Recommendations and guidance for establishing and maintaining high quality climate observations and satellite instrument characterization and calibration for measuring global climate change. For the pdfs of the covers, see Cover (940 kB pdf) and Inside cover (33 kB pdf).

SP 980: A partnership for advanced measurement standards — A history of the successful partnership between the Calibration Coordination Group (CCG) at the Department of Defense (DoD) and NIST.

Achieving satellite instrument calibration for climate change (ASIC3) (3.5 MB pdf) — A recommended national roadmap for developing the calibration systems for satellite instruments monitoring long-term global climate change.
