PubMed for Experts

MAR’s Outreach Coordinator, Kate Flewelling will be offering PubMed for Experts.

Location:  University of Pittsburgh, Falk Library, 200 Scaife Hall, Conference Room B

Date:  October 22, 2012 from 9 am – Noon.

Description:  This hands-on class will highlight advanced PubMed techniques that can be used to conduct comprehensive searches.  Recent changes to PubMed will be covered.  Attendees are encouraged to contribute past and present questions about PubMed to discuss with the class.  Participants will receive 3 hours of continuing education credit awarded by the MLA.

Disaster Information Resources (Boost Box Session)

Description: Ms. Champ-Blackwell promotes and implements the disaster health information goals of the Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and for the Bethesda Hospitals’ Emergency Preparedness Partnership.

Learn about NLM disaster information resources and emergency response tools. See a demo of the Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders (WISER) and how it can provide emergency responders with critical information in the palm of their hand.

Explore the Redesigned Kids.gov!

Kids.gov is the U.S. government’s website for children (grades K-8). Kids, parents, and teachers can use the site to get help with homework, access lesson plans, watch videos, play games, and more.

If you’ve visited Kids.gov previously, you’ll notice that the website has been completely redesigned. The vibrant new site provides areas for three specific audiences: kids (grades K-5), teens (grades 6-8), and grown-ups (teachers and parents).
