Help the Endangered Oregon Silverspot Butterfly by Planting Violets and Nectar Plants on September 22, South of Yachats

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and its partners invite the public, from youth to adults, to plant violets and other nectar plants to help recently released endangered Oregon silverspot butterflies. “The planting process is simple, and this may be a chance to see this beautiful butterfly in action,” says Anne Walker, an endangered species biologist for the Service. This event is a partnership between the Service, the Oregon Zoo, which raises the plants and captive-reared butterflies for the project, the U.S. Forest Service, the Nature Conservancy, and the MidCoast Watersheds Council.
