Social Media and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

It's not always easy to tell if a Facebook page, a Twitter feed, or some other content on a third party website is the official word of the organization that appears to be making it. This page is designed to be a national “hub” for official USFWS social media pages housed on www.fws.gov and other third-party sites.

On this page, you will find links to the social media pages for the regional and program offices that are of most interest to you. If you think we've missed one or have any questions about our sites, please let us know at webteam@fws.gov.

Social media efforts in the USFWS are just getting started and are a work in progress. Please visit often for updates about our ongoing efforts to use social media for more engaging, creative, and transparent dialogues about the natural world and our treasured fish and wildlife.

Our Comment Policy

Whether it's a formal response to a Federal Register notice or a comment on one of our blogs or third party sites, we welcome your participation. We do expect that our conversations will be productive and engaging, or at least civil.

In any forum we manage, we monitor comments either before they are published or shortly thereafter. We do not discriminate against any views, but we reserve the right to delete any of the following:

  • violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist comments
  • comments that threaten or defame any person or organization
  • solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency
  • comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity
  • multiple successive off-topic posts by a single user
  • repetitive posts copied and pasted by multiple users
  • personal information such as email addresses, telephone numbers, or mailing addresses

Egregious or repeated violations of the comment policy may result in the deletion of your comment or the reporting of your account to third party site administrators.

Our approach to comments, whether on third party sites or our own blogs, is spelled out in more detail in our blog policy.
