Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities to Discuss Education Equity at AT&T Nation’s Football Classic Dinner

John S. Wilson, executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), will give remarks at the AT&T Nation’s Football Classic Welcome Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 30, in Washington, D.C. Wilson will discuss education equity and the importance of HBCUs in helping to prepare students for the 21st-century workforce. He also will highlight data that show scholar-athletes have been among the better-performing students in higher education, especially with respect to graduation rates, compared with non-athletes.

The AT&T Nation’s Football Classic is a black college football game held annually at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. This year, the game features Howard University and Morehouse College. The event was created to celebrate the passion and tradition of the college football experience; to recognize the history of service to others by the students, faculty and alumni of historically black colleges and universities; to highlight the unity of African American culture; and to honor the heritage and excellence of HBCUs.
