Award Report: A Regional Health Unconference, Brooklyn Public Library

HealthCampNYC, a regional health unconference focused on using collective knowledge to improve health literacy and community health, took place at the Central Library of Brooklyn Public Library on May 14, 2010. Unconferences are participant-driven events where the focus is on the collective knowledge of the group. This collaborative environment provided opportunities for learning, sharing, and relationship building.

The event targeted librarians, literacy professionals, medical professionals, public health professionals, and community providers in the metro and tri-state area. Over 85 people attended the all-day event where they participated in roundtable discussions on topics they decided and managed. Collaborations, partnerships, publications, and possible grants are outcomes of the event. Find out more about HealthCampNYC at http://healthcampnyc.wetpaint.com
