Cost Saving Innovations and Sustainable Design Deliver High Performance at Homewood Middle School

April 18, 2007

On April 10, 2007, H. Jay Enck, president of CxGBS, discussed the design and construction of this innovative school and how he helped the Homewood School team implement sustainable development goals as part of the Building for the 21st Century Lecture Series at the National Building Museum. Homewood Middle School in Alabama is a model of sustainability; fostering learning at multiple levels and promoting environmental awareness among its students, faculty, and the community. The first LEED-certified (silver) building in Alabama, it was built on a blighted site within walking distance to the community’s core and includes many sustainable features.
