The National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly known as NBS) has played a vital role in the development of hydrogen technology. The Thermophysical Properties Division of the Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory at NIST is a leader in providing chemical and physical properties of fluid hydrogen.

This web-site provides an entry point to a large amount of information on hydrogen properties that can be used for engineering design and analysis. Although much of the research was performed in the 1960’s and 1970’s, NIST continues to advance the state-of-the-art in the measurement and modeling of physical and chemical properties information for a wide variety of industrially important fluids.
