Status: The State has no unbundled service programs for residential customers. |
Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) or the State legislature. Currently, only large industrial customers can receive unbundled service from the local distribution company (LDC). The PUC regulates three LDCs: Avista Utilities, Intermountain Gas Company, and Questar Gas Company. In December 1998, the PUC established competitive practice standards for Intermountain Gas and set up a registry of gas marketers who wish to provide service within the utility's service area. |
EIA State Data: In 2008, Idaho had 336,191 residential and 37,320 commercial customers. They consumed approximately 28 and 16 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices residential and commercial customers paid for natural gas from local distribution companies were $11.07 and $10.28 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. |
