QUESTION: Was there a security/graffiti incident at the Syrian Embassy in Washington, DC, today?

ANSWER: Despite enhanced security measures, over the weekend of March 17 – 18, there was an incident involving graffiti at the Syrian Embassy at the wall of the embassy compound. The graffiti was not threatening in nature. The Department continues to take all appropriate steps to ensure the security of the Syrian Embassy and the safety of its diplomats, in accordance with our Vienna Convention obligations.
