During the preparation of an Access-based mailing list for the Operations Analysis Branch of the Engineering and Operations Division, I was given the task of coordinating and enlarging a mailing list of industry and government contacts. A co-worker suggested I contact Gene Barfield if I had trouble locating anyone. Many of the names I was given had never been verified and others were very old.

When Mr. Barfield heard about my mission, he was more than willing to help me. Mr. Barfield is a member of numerous organizations including the Gulf Coast Safety and Training Group, so he added my name to these organizations at no fee. Because of his effort, I now receive constant corrections and updated names and addresses. I have since become a participant of actively updating the MMS database mailing list which consists of at least five publications that MMS prints and distributes. My effort began with a list of 75. Because of Mr. Barfield’s gracious help, this list is now in excess of 2,000 names.

Thanks, in part, to Mr. Barfield's attention, concern, and helpfulness, my job has been made easier and his activity helped make our communication with external customers much more accurate and timely.
