Question: Was the Swiss ambassador summoned by Iranian officials in the case of Shahram Amiri who said that the U.S. kidnapped him? If so, what information did they request? What did the Swiss provide on our behalf?

Answer: The issue of Mr. Amiri was raised during a previously scheduled meeting yesterday between Iranian officials and the Swiss Ambassador to Iran. Today, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a diplomatic note on the issue to the Swiss Embassy in its role as the United States’ protecting power in Iran. We are currently reviewing the note.
