Operation Summary for September 6, 2010 - September 8, 2010

Monday Sept. 6

The day shift began with Operations monitoring the Tevatron (TeV) store 8058 (85.59E30) and the Recycler stash (250.5E10), with the Antiproton Source (Pbar) stacking (26.8E10), with the Linac, Booster, and the Main Injector (MI) operating normally, with the MiniBooNE and NuMI experiments taking beam, and with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D-Zero (D0) using the colliding beams.

During the day shift, Operations terminated store 8058 at 10:55 AM, put the TeV into HEP shot setup, and established store 8059 at 12:16 PM with an average initial luminosity (AIL) of 221.54E30.

During the evening shift, operators monitored systems.

Tuesday Sept. 7

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 8059 (68.29E30) and the stash (291.3E10), with Pbar stacking (28.3E10), and with NuMI and MiniBooNE taking beam.

During the midnight shift, Operations terminated store 8059 at 12:47 AM, put the TeV into shot setup, and established store 8060 at 2:16 AM with an AIL of 265.6E30. At 3:06 AM, the TeV quenched at sector D17. Recovery followed and operators put the TeV into an extended dry squeeze at 6:01 AM.

During the day shift, the TeV quench investigation continued. At 8:50 AM, D0 reported a power glitch. Operators prepared the area for access.

During the evening shift, D0 came out of access at 7:20 PM. Operations conducted a TeV checkout, put the TeV into shot setup, and established store 8064 at 10:54 PM with an AIL of 271.6E30.

Wednesday Sept. 8

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 8064 (205.03E30) and the stash (155.5E10), with Pbar stacking (15.6E10), and with NuMI and MiniBooNE taking beam.

During the midnight shift, operators turned off the NuMI beam at 3:30 AM in preparation for an access later in the morning. Operators also turned off the MiniBooNE beam at 5 AM in preparation for an access later in the morning. Operations reported that a planned power outage for the Meson enclosures M01-M03 began at 6:53 AM.

The Plans for Wednesday

The plans for today are to stack, stash, and store. NuMI and MiniBooNE will resume taking beam later on today.
