Details The Transportation Research Board and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, with support from FHWA's Office of Asset Management, will host the 9th National Conference on Transportation Asset Management April 16-18, 2012, in San Diego, California.
Transportation agencies will have a forum to identify successful strategies for implementing transportation asset management principles. Speakers will provide guidance on applying asset management concepts to pavement and bridge assets, as well as nontraditional assets such as traffic management systems and data resources. A new track will help transit agencies learn how to efficiently maintain a state of good repair using transportation asset management approaches. The conference sessions will follow four tracks.

Details FHWA has been recognized in a recent White House memorandum recognized for encouraging states to use acceleration techniques like design-build procurement and more recently the governor's office in New York announced bipartisan support for design-build legislation that is considered key to the state's proposed infrastructure fund - a significant development considering the state's historic commitment to design-bid-build. These developments demonstrate that the use of design-build and P3s continue to emerge. The 2012 Design-Build in Transportation Conference will provide attendees with up to 14 hours of continuing education units (CEUs). Attendees are eligible to earn an additional 4 CEUs by attending the Owners Intro to Design-Build session on Wednesday, April 25.
