WASHINGTON, D.C.—GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE FEBRUARY 1; FALEOMAVAEGA ENCOURAGES ELIGIBLE INCOMING FRESHMEN TO APPLY | |
Congressman Faleomavaega
is encouraging all eligible incoming freshmen to apply for Gates Millennium
Scholarships. The deadline is February 1, 2001. Students must
be nominated by a high school teacher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on
a 4.0 scale, be eligible for a Pell grant, and have demonstrated leadership
ability through extracurricular activities and community service.
Scholarships are only available to incoming freshmen attending a four-year,
accredited institution.
“This is a great opportunity for
qualified students to fund their education and I am pleased that the Gates
Foundation has included our students as part of its Millennium Scholarship
program. I encourage all interested high school seniors to contact
their high school counselors, the Community College, or my district office
for assistance,” Congressman Faleomavaega said. “Applications are
available on-line at www.gmsp.org, and complete applications are being
accepted by fax.”
